We are members of the American Planning Association and eligible candidates to the American Institute of Certified Planners—AICP.  Equilibrio´s team brings together more than ten years of experience in Urban Design encompassing Transformative Urban Systems and Urban Revitalization, and the Integrated Regional Management with focus on Territorial Land-use planning. We establish links between the environmental, urban, and fiscal sustainability dimensions.

We lead community engagement and collective impact projects through the Integrated Social Management. We set and meet ambitious goals to involve new, diverse and underrepresented groups in the community to empower citizens in the decision-making process.

We offer our specialized knowledge and experience in administration and project management with municipalities, governments and NGOs interested in conservation and  sustainability.

We develop high quality design for residential and mixed-use developments. We lead the technical coordination of all design phases, and offer construction phase services. 

We believe that urban design has the power to transform the lives of our communities. Our goal is to integrate the important links between the environmental, urban, and fiscal sustainability dimensions. In this way, sustainable and transversal solutions can address complex problems through creativity and innovation by obtaining a holistic view of the needs and context of our communities and territories.

Issues related to climate change and social inequality must take into account short and long-term threats that affect local, regional and global ecosystems. Therefore, management from the social dimension must be addressed in a transversal manner to achieve inclusiveness and advanced projects based on specific tools for specific communities.

We believe that diversity encourages innovation and inclusiveness encourages creativity. By integrating diversity and inclusiveness, we are designing a more dynamic world. We are helping communities to go beyond socially constructed barriers and stereotypes and towards an open, united, committed and productive society. People who feel included are naturally more engaged, and commitment creates a sense of pride, belonging and responsibility.

We recognize the challenges of sustainable development, including reducing poverty, conserving biodiversity, controlling diseases, and mitigating climate change. Therefore, we believe that Urban Design, Environmental Management and Social Integration in the development of communities, regions and territories are closely related to current approaches to sustainability practices at all scales.

Understanding the adaptability of some groups to the rest of the population, the heterogeneity and plurality of territories and communities, and valuing ethnic diversity for each project, we establish strategies that promote organization, inclusiveness and democratic participation.

DAVID YIM Urban Planner

David brings to equilibrio more than 15 years of professional experience working comprehensively and skillfully in the field of Urban Planning and Project Management. David was an urban planner at the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore, where he was officer in charge for land use approvals and 5-year Master Plans for designated planning areas. He also served as  Secretariat for Design Advisory Panel for special public projects, evaluating and conveying decisions on land use consultations from government agencies. Prior to moving to Singapore, David was a business development consultant for a commercial LEED green building consultancy in New York City. David was a recipient of the 2009 American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Student Project Award for Application of the Planning Process.

Nelson offers more than 15 years of skilled, professional experience and has worked comprehensively in the field of Planning, Social Security, Quality Control, and Collective Impact. He has collaborated as a Planning professional in several institutions of Bogota’s city government, including the Government Secretariat, the District Secretariat of Social Integration and various local City Halls. At the SDIS, he was responsible for the implementation of the Integrated Quality Management System. As director of the NGO Corporacion Poder Local, he conducted research, training and support processes for citizen participation. There, he carried out projects of Collective Impact under the figure of inter-institutional consortiums with the Capital District, including: the Consortium of Participation without Indifference, Local Policy, and Civil Network.

He served as an advisor for the Bogotá City Council, the Public Employment Service, and the Vice Ministry of Employment and Pensions. At the Minister of the Interior, he advised the Directorate of Affairs for the Afro-Colombian, Raizales and Palenqueras Communities -NARP. MIREYA RAMOS Architect & Urban Planner

Mireya brings more than 15 years of experience in Urbanism, designing, coordinating and managing urban planning projects in Colombia and Europe. In Madrid she worked as an urban planner for Arnaiz Consultores España, where she led general plans, methodologies and technical coordination for municipalities in different provinces. At Arnaiz Colombia,  she also served as Urban Planning Project Coordinator for different municipalities. In collaboration with Geografia Urbana and the Grupo Mazzanti, she carried out the technical and administrative coordination for the Master Plan of the Guatapurí River Linear Eco-Park, and Node 7-Tarullal in Valledupar-Cesar, a project funded by FINDETER. Recently, Mireya has been collaborating with ENTerritorio (formerly FONADE) as a consultant in the strengthening of territorial entities [PFET], specifically in rural topics of the modern Territorial Land Use Plan program.

PEDRO BORGES Architect & Urban Designer

Pedro is passionate about "People-First Design" and designing for the public realm. He brings five years of experience managing architecture, urban design, and transportation infrastructure projects with the NYC Department of Transportation and the NYC Parks Department. There, he gained a high level of experience in sustainable design and planning of public spaces, urban parks, large-scale transportation and bicycle infrastructure design. Pedro continues to consult with non-profits like Emergency Architecture and Human Rights, Trampoline House, and others in Copenhagen, assisting with strategy, planning, marketing, visual documentation, and community engagement to improve the quality of life for refugees and immigrants. He is determined to work towards sensible community-centered urban design and planning.

MILTON GARAVITO Urban Designer

Milton brings to equilibrio the convergence of urban planning, architecture, and project management in the United States and Colombia. With a professional career and global experience spanning more than 15 years, his solo practice and collaboration with other designers have included public space, master planning, healthcare facilities, and socially and environmentally responsible design. He worked for the Department of Advocacy for Public Space-DADEP in Bogotá, collaborating in the certification of areas for the Linear Parks program. Milton provides feedback for the Los Angeles Department of City Planning and the Urban Design Studio on upcoming projects located around the city. He has also participated in helping to advance the annual AIA|LA Advocacy Platform where architectural professionals take part at the AIA|LA Legislative Day at City Hall and advocate on behalf of members to serve as the leaders in the design of the built environment for the City of Los Angeles.
